In order to participate in this event thread you must claim your spot by responding to this thread with an in character post. In this event there are FIVE CIVILIAN character spots. In order to claim your spot your character must be a civilian, there must be at least one open spot available still, the time stamp on this thread must be the latest one of all of your threads and please, it is first come first serve so no complaining if you don't get a spot. |

It is completely up to your character what happens in this event. This being said there are five numbers you must choose from. In your post make a side note about what number you choose. You cannot pick a claimed number and the numbers are from 1 - 5. You will get a Pm from Fate about what this number mean for your character. Just a helpful hint, fate is inclined to help characters with lovely posts who respond with great character development and stay in character. Nerdy men don't magically become courageous, fate will be sure to be slightly nicer to you if your posts are great and accurate! Please do not share what your individual task is with other players. This is to make the event more realistic since some peoples tasks may be counter productive to your task. For example someone may have their task to kill someone while your task is to save them. Again, please keep your tasks to yourself. Also feel free to speculate what other peoples tasks are, at the end of the event I will put up all the tasks for other members to see how mean I am! If you fail to complete your task you are not guaranteed to die but it is not preferable as bad things tend to happen.

The night air swirled in intricate patterns as the night seemed to scream out in pain. The clear night rang out in silence as the night seemed to ingulf any sound that was created. The wind was quickly silenced, the swirling patterns coming to a stop only to leave the streets being filled with a warm summer breeze. It didn't take long for small anomalies bursting out in protest to the darkening night. The water in the pond flooded over the edges of the large bowl that used to contain the water. The water started to slither away from the fountain in some form of conquest only to come to a complete stand still a moment later. The wind continued pushing in small bursts, only to be reduced to the summer breeze once more. A small candle in a store front flickered on, the flame coming out of no where as the candle started to feed the flame. It didn't take long for the flame to increase to dangerous levels, the candle wax dripping slowly down the sides of the strongly burning candle. All at once the flame flickered out leaving the candle to smolder in remembrance of the flame. The city of New York seemed to be fighting back to something, the night only swallowing any attempts at resistance. The street lamp on a local corner burst, the glass raining down on the street. The very taste of the air seemed to be thick with some unknown force as the glass shards never touched the sidewalk. They hovered slightly above the ground quivering slightly before losing some unseen battle and fell to the floor with a soft clatter.
The stars seemed to shake in fear of the growing darkness. The night sky darkened regardless of the absence of clouds, the moon hanging overhead seeming to retreat slightly letting it's glow falter. The darkness was growing, that much was obvious, the twinkling lights of the city quivered in anticipation. Something was going to happen, but time was of the essence, the darkness could not escape just yet. Within the ataraxia planetarium something was wrong. The astronomy books seemed to literally shrink back on the shelves, as though something was trying to break free but utterly failing. Again, everything would come together in time. Just outside the planetarium it seemed there was a raging war between unseen forces. The darkness almost seemed to take on a solid form as there was a dense dark fog around the planetarium. The trees around the planetarium were wilting before any passerby's eyes. The branches continued growing through the fog seeming to try and contain the fog by grasping at the edges of the fog. The wind seemed to be stronger around the planetarium, the intricate patterns reforming to try and concentrate the fog. The lights within the planetarium flickered slightly, the fog seemed to be attempting to try and retreat away from the planetarium, but the unseen battle seemed to be raging onward no matter the dark fog's intentions.
There was a loud bang in the distance as the power within New York flickered momentarily until finally shutting down all together. The darkness did not shut down in sections like a normal power failure, there was nothing wrong with the power grids. The only shred of power seemed to be coming from the planetarium. The lights in the planetarium were flickering on and off in spastic patterns. Everywhere in New York the power outage affected real lives. In the nearby hospital a patient gasps for breath as the oxygenation machine fails to produce the required air to the patient. In the next ward a women dies as the electrical current keeping her heart pumping stops working allowing her heart to fail. The darkness could feel the women's blood stop flowing, it's patience was finally going to be rewarded.
The planetarium's unseen battle seemed to rage onward, the power within the planetarium seemed to bring comfort to anyone within the building. The building was calling out to someone, the very stars seemed to slowly start moving towards the planetarium. They would have to answer the call if life should continue onward. The darkness was oblivious to the stars shifting in the very sky. They would answer the call, they had to.
